A taxonomy is a hierarchical (nested) structure that is convenient for organizing content. A simple example of a taxonomy is putting files into folders in Windows Explorer.
The system administrators have the right to create taxonomy trees. The taxonomy tree is created through the Picvario administrative panel.
The right to work with the taxonomy and edit links with taxa is set by the Picvario administrator.
To see the created tree(s) in the Picvario interface, you need to go to the page with the asset feed.
Click on a taxon to view all assets linked to it. At the top of the search bar you will see the tag of the selected taxon. Text search and advanced search filters can be used inside the taxon.
To select several taxa at the same time, on the left panel of the taxonomy, click on the necessary taxa by holding down the CTRL (Command) key.
Indication of assets linked to taxon
By selecting one asset or several assets, you can see which taxa they belong to. This is indicated by the icon in the form of a circle next to the taxon:
A filled circle of accent color - all selected assets belong to this taxon,
a circle half-filled with accent color - part of the selected assets belongs to this taxon,
an empty circle of accent color - all selected assets belong to one of the child taxa.
If you expand the parent taxon, the empty circle will disappear, and a filled circle or a circle half-filled with an accent color will appear near the child taxon.
Adding an asset to a taxon
There are three ways to add one or more assets to a taxon.
1. Select one or more assets. Hold down the left mouse button and drag them to the left panel to the desired taxon. In the pop-up window that appears: "Link asset to taxon. Selected asset will be linked to "the Taxon Name"" confirm your selection by clicking the Link to Taxon button.
2. Select one or more assets. Move the mouse cursor over the desired taxon in the left panel of the taxonomy. Click on the "+" icon that appears. In the pop-up window that appears: "Link asset to taxon. Selected asset will be linked to "the Taxon Name"" confirm your selection by clicking the Link to Taxon button.
3. Select one or more assets. Go to the Properties section on the right panel. Find the Taxonomy field (it may be called differently if the administrator has set a different name for the taxonomy) and click on the field to expand the list of taxa. Here you can expand and collapse taxa to view child sections and select all the necessary ones by clicking on the taxon. After all the necessary taxa are selected - this is indicated by the shaded circle of accent color next to the taxon name - click the Apply button.
You can add one or more assets to different taxonomies. To do this, select taxa in all relevant fields in the Properties section or use steps 1 or 2 above.
Removing an asset's link to a taxon
There are two ways to remove the link of one or more assets with taxon.
1. Select one or more assets. Move the mouse cursor over the desired taxon in the left panel of the taxonomy. Click on the "-" icon that appears. In the pop-up window that appears: "Unlink asset from taxon. Selected asset will be unlinked from "the Taxon Name"" confirm your choice by clicking the Unlink button.
If some of the selected assets are associated with this taxon, and some are not, then there will be an icon next to the taxon. Click on it and select one of two options: link assets with a taxon that were not linked to it, or unlink those that are linked to this taxon.
2. Click on the taxon again to break the connection. After all the necessary taxa have been selected - this is indicated by the shaded circle of accent color next to the taxon name - click the Apply button.
