To share assets, an authorized user with the relevant rights can create external links to them and send these links to other people. The right to create external links is granted by the administrator of Picvario.
The links can be:
- Direct: they lead to the original file; when you click on direct links, the asset is downloaded.
- Indirect: they lead to the asset feed that displays only the assets that the user has shared. A user who clicks on the link can view the asset properties and download the original file or a proxy version.
To create a unique link, perform the following steps:
1. Select the required asset of assets.
2. In the Share section of the right sidebar, click the Create link button.
3. Set the necessary properties for the link.
- Link name (optional)
- Link type (Direct or Indirect)
- Expiry date (optional). You can create permanent or temporary links. The temporary link will be valid until the date you set.
- Password (optional). Note that the generated password is automatically copied to your clipboard and will not be available for viewing or copying later.
4. Click the Create link button. If you click Cancel, the link creation process will be canceled.
To view all previously created links to an asset, select it in the feed. You can also select multiple assets and view all the links to those assets. The link will be displayed in the Share section of the right sidebar.
You can copy the link by clicking on its address (URL).
Viewing, editing and deleting unique links
The individual links to assets that you have created are displayed in the Share section of the right sidebar, when the asset is selected. You can:
- Copy an existing link by clicking on its address (URL).
- Change the properties of an existing link, for example, its expiry date, the password or the name of the link. To do this, click
next to the link name. Click the Edit link button. In the edit form that appears, modify the link properties and click Save. If you do not want to set a password or an expiry date, leave these fields blank. If you click Cancel, the changes will not be saved.
- Delete the link. To do this, click
Internal links
In addition to external links, you can create an internal link to the asset. You can send such a link to a user authorized in your workspace, and when they click on it, they will see the asset, as if they entered the UUID of this asset in the search bar.
To create such a link, perform the following steps:
1. Select the desired asset in the asset feed.
2. On the preview panel, click and select Copy Link. The link will be copied to your clipboard, after which it can be sent to another authorized user.
An unauthorized user will only be able to see the asset if it is public. Otherwise, the user will see that no results are found.
The link generated in this way works as a search query for the UUID of the selected asset.
